Appearance: Imagine a killer whale with four stubby legs instead of fins and you have a perfect picture of a icy swamp behemoth. It retains the powerful tail with which it is capable of crossing water, marsh grass and quicksand. with ease. It has a northern cousin which sports a thick white coat and short claws. There is also a slightly smaller jet-black species with longer legs that roams the plains and hills in more temperate regions.
Ecology: The Behemoth is a fearsome carnivore ranging low altitude colder climates, preferring marshes, wetlands and coastal areas. It is either found in pods of 1-3 males ranging a wide territory or a herd of 4-12 females, half that number in young and 1-6 bulls that are following a migratory pattern or food source. The young are born singly and alive, roughly a tenth of their adult size. They grow quickly to full size within 8 years and can live at least ten times as long. Behemoths are binaural, warm blooded, and omnivorous.
Motivations: Typical animal motivations, but especially hungry.
Combat Techniques: Behemoths are attracted to food or food-like items, and behave somewhat like their aquatic relatives. A behemoth always attacks the largest thing in any given group. Note that behemoth do not run unless confronted by an even bigger behemoth (and maybe not even then). They may lash out with their powerful tails, or trample small prey. Small meaning anything half their own size.
Rumors: The Behemoth has several stomachs and a gizzard, which may contain swallowed metal items. They can swallow a person whole, and legends tell of warriors killing a behemoth from within.
