Appearance: Sleen look and act like a cross between a komodo dragon and a giant ferret. They possess six short legs and a jaw featuring multiple rows of teeth.
Sleek, dark fur is common but Arctic sleen are silver-gray. Their long tube-like bodies keep them low to the ground, but they move very fluidly and are capable of running on just their back four legs freeing their foreclaws to grasp prey.
Ecology: Sleen can live anywhere they can find prey and prey on just about anything. For this reason they've been hunted almost to the point of extinction in the wild. They continue to grow as they age and some monstrous specimens have been recorded. Sleen are prized as a domesticated tracking beast and feared as a wild animal because of its tendencies to prey upon man and livestock. Wild sleen may even carry an infectious bite like a komodo dragon. Sleen are warm-blooded, binaural, and carnivorous. They give birth to live litters of 1-6 cubs. Domestic sleen live to 30 years.
Motivations: Typical animal motivations. Sleen are stupid but relentless; once they target a prey they will follow it for days. They can be trained, although constant discipline is required. Wild sleen behave very much like Komodo Dragons. However, sleen are fairly brazen and more energetic. Rather than wait for prey sleen will snuff around until they find a scent and then proceed to track it down. They can follow very old and faint scent trails with ease. Domesticate sleen can be trained to identify multiple individuals by scent and will not forget any scent introduced to them by their handlers.
Combat Techniques: Sleen will attempt to bite and lock on to their prey. The multiple rows of sharp teeth allow them to hold prey with one set and continue to chew with another. They also possess six pairs of clawed, thickly padded feet. These pads allow them to move very softly, despite their large size. The claws are used as weapons and digging tools.
Other Names: Blackfeet
Rumors: If a sleen is biting you, attempt to bite it back on the nose. Go on, try it.
