Description: A fixture of the city nightlife, Deacon Blue is a musician, songwriter, and nightclub performer. He gets up after sundown, plays his sax, drinks Scotch whiskey, dallies with his female acquaintances, and generally lives his life his own way. Apparently, he turned to this lifestyle after failing at a more conventional forms of making a living, taking the name "Deacon Blues" in response to such nicknames as "Crimson Tide" for "the winners in the world." While seemingly content with his life, Deacon Blues also fully expects it to be the death of his, as he figures one too many nights of drinking will result in his death in a car accident.
The "star" of Steely Dan's song Deacon Blues, the otherwise unnamed protagonist of the song could be used in both Dark Champions or Pulp Hero games as a smalltime musician, playing jazz, R&B, or even rock clubs. While not a major mover or shaker he does know a little bit about the city's nightlife and might be able to point PCs in the right direction—depending on what they need. To make Deacon Blues more powerful/useful, give him some additional Knowledge Skills (such as local music scene and the like), and a few Contacts (club owners and other musicians).
