Background:
Cait Sith, an unusual automaton at the best of times, was a sideshow attraction at the Gold Saucer amusement park. He hopped around the landscape, cracking jokes and telling fortunes (with incredibly poor reliability) to whoever came along. Upon meeting Cloud Strife, he told a very unusual fortune, that mystified even him. Curious to see how it turned out, he barged his way into Cloud's team to watch their progress.

Cait was in fact created with a more sinister purpose. He is a spy, designed to infiltrate and spy on Cloud's team of wanderers by Shinra Inc. Upon creation, he was mentally bonded to Reeve, a high-placed executive in charge of public works for the city of Midgar. He infiltrated Cloud's gang, and began subtly conveying messages back to Shinra.

Personality/Motivation:
Cait Sith is more autonomous than a mere extension of Reeve. He's a fun-loving creature, easily amused and happy to be traveling with friends. He enjoys others' company, and spends much of his time idly chatting with the rest of the team. Underneath however, he is dedicated to Reeve and Shinra, but in that order; he would rather obey Reeve's wishes than Shinra's orders.

Tactics/Powers:
Cait Sith is a pure brawler. His plush moogle body can absorb tremendous amounts of damage, and is very strong. In combat he mostly charges the enemy and bowls them down one at a time. He can call on an unusual power when needed; by summoning and rolling magic dice, he can deal tremendous amounts of damage to an enemy. This ability is very unpredictable, however.

Thanks to his link with Reeve, Cait can transmit thoughts, images and sound back to his creator. This bond is two-way; Reeve can also show Cait what is happening around him. However, while receiving Cait goes into a trance-like state and is defenseless.

Appearance:
Cait Sith is an unusual creation by anyone's standards. "Cait" himself is a small, black and white toy cat that wears a toy crown and a small red cape. He rides atop a huge stuffed moogle, which resembles nothing so much as fuzzy white marshmallow with small eyes, pointed ears, a broad mouth with two upwards-protruding teeth, short legs, thick arms and tiny bat wings. The cat toy yells orders to the moogle through a toy megaphone. The cat is also helpless on its own; the two parts are effectively one whole creature.
