Background/History: Raised in the lap of luxury, Rinoa Heartily could have easily grown up spoiled. Her father was an important general in the Galbaldian army, and her mother was a famous singer who died when Rinoa was young. Rinoa grew up in the shadow of her father, and always wanted to be recognised for her own achievements, not just as the general's daughter. By the time she was seventeen, Rinoa had ran away from home. She found herself in Timber, a small town occupied by the Galbaldian army. Seeing an opportunity, she began a small rebel movement, intended to throw off Galbaldian occupation.
Several times she requested assistance from Garden, but was knocked back each time due to lack of funds. On these occasions, she met a young, hot-tempered student named Seifer Almasy, and wound up going out with him. However, on her last visit, Seifer was nowhere to be found (confined as a disciplinary action for disobeying orders) and she found herself in the middle of a graduation dance. Having no partner and wanting to enjoy herself, she found a recent graduate by the name of Squall Leonheart, and dragged him onto the dance floor.
The next day, she had Garden's assistance. They sent along a trio of Seeds, lead by Squall. Rinoa directed them on a mission to capture Galbaldia's president, which went horribly wrong due to Seifer's interference. Rinoa, Quistis Trepe (Seifer's instructor) and the Garden team wound up fleeing Timber. However, since the contract with Garden lasted until Timber was liberated, Squall found himself having to protect the flighty Rinoa.
Personality/Motivation: Rinoa rarely seems to take life seriously. She believes strongly in writing wrongs and helping people, however doesn't take it to seriously - her rebel movement was based more on good intentions than good planning, and as such was a disastrous failure. She is driven by a need to prove herself as being capable and strong in her own right, and is almost fearless when trying to gain people's respect leading to her making brash and unwise moves, such as confronting a sorceress head-on.
As a rebel, and due to her association with Garden, she is hunted down by the Galbaldian army. She is watched over by her father, general Carraway who wants nothing but the best for his only daughter, even if it means locking her up to stop her from doing anything brash. Due to her magical abilities, certain magical devices and spells indicate her as a sorceress, although this is uncommon. Finally, it seems that she is almost always blundering into trouble on her quest to do good and help people - luckily, Squall is always there to help her.
Powers/Tactics: Rinoa wields an unusual crossbow-like weapon called a pinwheel that fires a circular blade which returns to the launcher. She is accompanied everywhere by her Angelo, a highly trained attack dog. Most notably, Rinoa is a natural magic user, almost as strong as a pure sorceress (women able to create and manipulate magical energy; regarded with great fear and respect) and as such can use Guardian Forces (GFs) and psuedo-magic without training.
GFs rest in the user's mind, and enable him to draw magic spells from the environment or from opponents. These are "stocked" in the Variable power Pool for later use. All spells have limited charges, and once a charge is used, it is gone until the spell can be re-drawn.
Note: The spells should be pre-designed, and the "charges" of a spell drawn should depend on the amount of Transfer rolled.
The GF itself can also be summoned, delivering a powerful attack to the user's opponents. While summoning, the user is protected by the GF itself; if the GF is knocked out, the summoning will abort and the GF must be revived later. A person can use more than one GF; however, only one may be summoned at a time, and changing GFs takes time.
Appearance: Rinoa is a beautiful young woman of seventeen. She has long black hair with streaks of light brown that frames her face, and blue eyes. She has a pleasant face that always wears a smile, even when she tries (rarely) to be serious. She wears a sleeveless blue long coat over a black singlet and pants.
