SHADOWS ANGELUS

JAMA MAKES A DISCOVERY

Pushing her chair back from her desk, Jamadagni Renuka stood up and turned to face the squad room. "I think I know who Ysarille is," she stated. The overhead lights blinked twice at her announcement bringing forth a dark scowl. Reaching over to her desk, Jama picked up a pinch of salt and tossed it over her shoulder.

"Ahem..., as I was saying, I found mention of 'He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named'," Jama paused and waited for a moment before continuing. "There was a listing of a 'Ys--'...," Jama glanced at the lights and then forged ahead, "of the name in question on a chart showing the hierarchy of Hell."

"Call him Mark," Hemelshot called from his office, "That's the traditional name for the person of whom you're about to take advantage."

"Mark?" Jama looked confused. "I don't understand. Isn't he a saint?"

"Not in this context. Con game operators call the people they're fleecing 'marks', and it can also refer to the person you're targeting with a practical joke." Hemelshot replied before uttering a short laugh. "There's always John—the guy who's about to get fucked."

Tyger looked over towards Hemelshot's office and tilted his head slightly. "I dunno, I kinda like the name cockbite... more colorful." He then looked over to Jama. "So? What does that have to do with anything?"

Jama blinked one, twice, a third time, obviously trying to get her train of thought back on track. "Carpenter had asked me to look into cases of Entities appearing in the past. To see if this has happened before. This might be indicate Entities have had contact with Earth in the past."

Tyger shrugged his shoulders slightly. "Well, I guess that's the answer then. Unless it's only a coincidence or he didn't give us his real name."

"And if its not a coincidence," Jama continued unperturbed, "How did humanity stop them? Or did they? And what made the Entities leave?"

Tyger only gave a shrug of his shoulders. "I have no bloody clue. You guys are the history buffs and brains of this outfit. I just break shit. But maybe that book that you're looking for will tell you."

"Provided we can find it. Maybe I should ask Carpenter."
