Background/History: Shiko hails from a long line of samurai, and claims to be a descendent of the famous Tomoe Gozen. The Tomoe clan lives on a sizable estate in JapanŐs far northern reaches, and in many ways is till very traditional in outlook. Shiko is no exception, and was taught many traditional samurai skills as part of her upbringing. Her training included the use of the naginata, as the Tomoe clan's most valued possession is the "Golden Naginata", an ancient and venerable weapon with many mystic powers. Her skill and dedication to her fighting arts, as well as her impressive ki powers brought her to the attention of Mana Isozaki, who selected her to help found a new AMP office in Osaka. Shiko, seeing a chance to earn honor on this new, modern battlefield, quickly accepted.
Personality/Motivation: Shiko strives to emulate her samurai ancestors. She closely adheres to the Code of Bushido, and regard Mana more as her daiymo as opposed to her commanding officer. Thus, she follows Mana's order without question, striving to finish any and all tasks put to her with proper efficiency. She also follows her own, personal code of honor, which is patterned after the ethics of the cinematic samurai. She will not use treachery, lies or dishonesty to achieve a goal; will do her utmost to protect the innocent and the weak; and carries herself with modesty and restraint. Naturally, some of her fellow officers consider her to be a be straight-laced

Powers/Tactics: In combat, Shiko will try and activate her ki powers first, especially her Whirl-wind Kata, before closing into hand-to-hand range. She doesn't care for firearms, and tends not to use them, unless the foe is obviously very large and/or powerful. In most cases, Shiko will use her Speed aid first followed by her Strength aid. She will then close and use the Golden Naginata to devastating effect. Her Kiai is reserved for use on humans (who are more likely to be affected by it) while her Suei power is primary a means of pursuit or for gaining a tactical advantage. Finally, her Iron Will technique is used as an emergency measure as it is not always reliable.
Shiko's Golden Naginata is a full 7' long, with a 2' blade. It looks like a normal well-made weapon, if a bit aged. The Golden Naginata blazes with a yellow flame when fighting supernatural monsters (a simple special effect), can cut ghosts (the Affects Desolid HKA) and can be commanded to glow bright enough to blind one's enemies (the Flash attack). The weapon can also sense the supernatural (the detect), and if spun over the head, light up the battlefield (the Change Environment). Needless to say, Shiko is very protective of the weapon and will not let it out of her sight.
Appearance: Shiko is fairly tall, standing about 5'9 or so. She is broad-shouldered, with a supple, well-muscled build. Her thick, black hair is kept should-length, cut to just above her brown eyes. On duty, Shiko wears the full AMP uniform, off duty she tends to dress in conservative fashions, tending towards more traditional kimonos and the like while at home.
