Description: Beast People are so named because while they have the head, arms, and torsos of Farming, Forest, Hunting, or Running People with the legs of either deer, goats, or horses. They tend to be shorter than Farming People, but have similar builds. Both males and female tend to wear their hair long, with the men having beards. Beast People can only breed true with those Beast People who have the same upper bodies and legs as themselves. Thus, most Beast People tribes tend to be uniform in this regard.

As a rule, Beast People wear very little in the way of clothing, but often have simple a harness or vest-like garment with which to carry tools and small items. As they are normally found in the Jungle, Beast People prefer to travel light, as they’re often on the move, due to living in semi-nomadic tribes. However, Beast People found in other parts of the Well will normally dress and dwell in a manner keeping with the local customs.

Nomadic Beast People tend to have a tribal society, ruled by a chieftain, with clearly-defined duties for all members of the tribe. Normally there are hunter/warriors who pursue prey and defend the tribe for attackers; gatherers, who harvest fruits, vegetables, edible fungi, herbs, and so on; and a small number of crafters (usually the elderly or lame) who make things the tribe needs.

Some Beast People live in established settlements (often with Forest People) and tend towards a more agrarian society. These settlements often trade with the great trading caravans, swapping woven goods, dried fruits, feathers, skins, and spices for pottery and metal goods.

This character sheet represents an average Beast Person warrior with the upper body of a Farming Person. Beast People with the upper bodies of other races should make the appropriate modifications. Non-warriors, as well as younger (and older) Beast People will have slightly lower Characteristic and different Skills.
