Aisha

Background/History: Aisha Clan Clan is a Ctarl-Ctarl, a race of felineish aliens noted for their ferocity and skill in combat. Aisha herself comes from a well-to-do family, and graduated top in her class, resulting in her being appointed Ambassador Plenipotentiary to the Tempa Stellar Region. Unfortunately, while traveling to Blue Heaven aboard the cruiser Orta Hornehorne, Aisha tangled with Hot-Ice Hilda, Gene Starwind, and some irate would-be Outlaws, resulting in a loss of face for the her and the Ctarl-Ctarl (she was forced to move the Orta Hornehorne out of the way of Hilda's ship). As a result, she was stripped of her rank and made Blue Heaven's resident officer, and charged with searching for information leading to the location of the Galactic Leyline. Aisha stays on Blue heaven for a while, tangling with (and losing to) Gene a second time, before hitchhiking across the galaxy in search of the Leyline. She ends up tricking her way on board the Outlaw Star, and declares herself a permanent crew member, despite Gene and Jim's objections. Although at times more trouble than she's worth, both Gene and Jim will admit her great strength is an asset in their adventures.

Aisha first appears in Episode 3, Into Burning Space, but doesn't actually join the crew full time until Episode 11, Adrift In Subspace. At the end of the show, she has a job delivering pizzas on Sentinel III, but rejoins the Outlaw Star because she feels Gene still "owes" her for her loss of rank and the loss of the Galactic Leyline (yeah... right...).

Personality/Motivation: Aisha Clan Clan thinks the Ctarl-Ctarl are the greatest things since sliced bread. She knows it and she wants you to know it. And if you aren't aware of these facts, she will inform you, as soon as possible, with the unspoken insinuation that you're a total loser for not having the fortune to be born a Ctarl-Ctarl. Oh, and she'll repeat the fact several more times just to make sure you get the message. To make matters worse, Aisha is hotheaded and prone to sputtering rages, with a tendency to act without thinking things through (or at all), often ending up in even worse trouble than when she started. As a side note, for all her power and arrogance, Aisha will wilt like a wet noodle if yelled at by someone she considers her "boss." Several times in the series, she ends up washing dishes or waiting tables to make ends meet and looks to live in mortal fear of being yelled at by her manager. Of course, this is played more for laughs than anything else, so GM wishing to play Aisha more "straight" can ignore this aspect of her character.

Quotes: "A proud Ctarl-Ctarl pays no heed to an enemy's compassion!"

"I hope you don't think a gun will work on an immortal Ctarl-Ctarl!"

"I'm tough. Really. So tough it's scary."

"Nobody in the galaxy can beat me!"

Aisha training

Powers/Tactics: Based on the comments and reactions of different people in Outlaw Star, the Ctarl-Ctarl are a race to be feared, and are more than capable of handling themselves in any sort of fight. Based on Aisha's actions during the series, this fear has a basis in fact. Aisha herself is very, very strong (she's shown forcing open jammed airlock doors more than once), and very, very tough. She is a highly capable fighter, and would have easily won the female division of the Universal Strongman Tournament if not for Kei Pirate interference.

Aside from her physical prowess and fighting skills, Aisha, like all Ctarl-Ctarl, has the ability to assume the form of a great "beast," which looks like a cross between a tiger and a wolf. This beast is savage and vicious, and a powerful combatant. Supposedly, this ability is amplified by the phases of a planet's moon, but since that never seemed to come up in the series, I didn't try to define it here. Aisha can also go to what she referred to as "half-power," increasing her strength and able to ignore a knife strike from Gene (In fact, the knife blade shattered after hitting her!). However, metamorphosing into her beast form takes time and energy, and at one point, she couldn't pull it off due to a lack of energy (due to a lack of food...).

At several points, Aisha comments on the sharpness of Ctarl-Ctarl hearing, which seems to be the case, as she can apparently hear into the ultrasonic range, and pick up whispered conversations from a short distance away.

Appearance: Aisha Clan Clan stands 5' 4" and weighs a svelte 114 lbs. She has brown skin, green eyes, and yellowish-white hair. Her hair is very long, and braided, ending in a large gold ring at about her knees. Her outfits consists of a green one-piece miniskirt and blouse with a white bodice over that, dark brown hose, white knee-high leggings, black shoes, and a large gold bell worn around her neck. It is (IMO) an ugly outfit.

Aisha's beast form is large tiger/wolf hybrid, white with black stripes (and solid black ears).

Designer's Notes: I find it amusing the first Ctarl-Ctarl seen in the show isn't a soldier, spacer, or diplomat, but a near-naked (and well-endowed) exotic dancer pirouetting around a steel pole in a bar on Blue Heaven. Sort of sets the tone for the rest of the series. Seriously, the Ctarl-Ctarl are a force to be reckoned with, even if Aisha isn't the greatest example of a fearless Ctarl-Ctarl warrior (she is an amazing screw-up at times). However, it would seem the entire race suffers from a form of racial arrogance, where they think they are better than the rest of the universe. This belief nearly causes the Ctarl-Ctarl to lose an entire cruiser to the Galactic Leyline in Episode 24, Cutting The Galactic Leyline.

Aisha can be used in a variety of genres. She could be made into a powerful fantasy shapeshifter (just eliminate her more modern skills), or as an alien warrior/visitor in a Champions game. Game Masters who wish to down-power her can start by cutting some of her more redundant martial arts maneuvers, as well as eliminating her 1/2 Power Metamorph Talent.

One last note, Aisha's Japanese voice actress is the same woman who was the VA for Asuka Langley from Neon Genesis Evangelion. What makes this so notable is how both Aisha and Asuka tend to run off at the mouth about how superior they are, only to screw up and end up needing saving or looking a bit foolish. I'm betting this isn't a coincidence.
