Background/History: The Time Traveller is the central character of H.G. Wells' story The Time Machine. A turn-of-the-century scientist and inventor, the Time Traveller utilizes certain (as yet unknown) theories concerning the nature of spatial geometry and time to create a time machine that allows him to travel to any point in Earth's history. His first trip deposits him far into the future, in the year 802,701, where he discovers that man has degenerated into two species—the childlike Eloi, and the subterranean Morlocks. Traveling further, he witnesses the apparent end of the world, as well as the final moments of the Earth's last living creature. He returns to England, but soon sets out again, never to return (and to possibly arrive in your campaign?).

Personality/Motivation: The Time Traveller is highly inquisitive, and driven by the need to discover new things. The Time Traveller is also less than careful concerning his personal safety, his initial time travel trip is done with out any preparation, he ventures into the Morlock tunnels alone and unarmed, and he travels to the end of the Earth's existence merely to witness its last days.

Quote: "I am afraid I cannot convey the peculiar sensations of time traveling. They are excessively unpleasant."

Powers/Tactics: The Time Traveller has no real powers, aside from an inventive mind and extensive scientific knowledge.

Appearance: The Time Traveller is never named and only barely described. The narrator (who also goes nameless) states that he is gray-eyed, with an unusually pale face. It would seem that he is an older man, clean shaven, with grayish hair.

Designer's Notes: This is my second version of the Time Traveller. The first had higher characteristics, which I felt were unjustified upon a re-reading of the original story. The Time Traveller is very learned, and a quick thinker, but otherwise is quite normal, and in fact, getting on in years, hence his lower CON and BODY. He does seem to know a little bit about just about everything, hence all of this Knowledge and Science Skills.
