The truth about Parthena will probably never be known for sure. She claimed to be a necromancer/sorceress, and as shown here, there was some truth to those claims. Less certain are her claims about being alive during certain ports of the Victorian era. She certainly didn't look to be as old as she claimed, and some felt it was all a sham. In any event, she was a well-known medium, and her seances were highly sought after. Oh, and her last name is pronounced “fanshaw”.
