Description: Mothman was a bored Connecticut playboy who decided to fight crime in order to bring meaning to his life. He was with the Minutemen for the duration, from 1940 to 1949. A conscientious objector, he worked as a medical aide during World War II. Mothman suffered from a drinking problem from early on, and after being dragged before HUAC in the mid-50's (and being labeled a Communist for his more liberal views), his alcoholism reached dangerous proportions. Mothman was committed to a rehabilitation center in 1962.

Note: In Under the Hood, Hollis Mason makes mention of the fact Mothman could glide for short distances with his costume. No mention is made anywhere else about him having that ability, and no sort of gliding power is listed on his character sheet.
