Background/Personality: The California Raisin was born into a cluster of grapes in the poorest section of the vineyard, where the grapes aren’t expected to succeed in life. Not elegant enough for wine or even grape juice, the grapes on this vine were normally left to dry in the sun to become raisins.
But this raisin made a difference.
Instead of life in a lowly fruit basket or fruitcake, he sang and danced his way into America’s heart. His love of music led him to pursue a career in the recording industry, where he was an instant success.
Trying to hide from his humble origins on the poor side of town, Raisin approached the California Raisin Association (CRASS) with the idea of becoming a spokesman for the industry. The idea caught on, and from his first commercial with hand-picked backup singers, this raisin rose to stardom.
Quote: “I heard it through the grapevine that I’m the hippest there is, baby.”
Tactics/Powers: California Raisin is so amazingly cool that onlookers gasp in awe and get weak in the knees just watching him dance.
Roleplaying Notes: Austin Powers meets Billy Dee Williams.
